Maurice C. Bryson

Maurice Conrey Bryson (* 19. April 1936 in El Paso, Texas) ist ein US-amerikanischer Statistiker.

Leben

Bryson wuchs als Sohn des Historikers und TV-Moderators Melvin Conrey Bryson (1905–1994) und dessen Ehefrau Pearl Melvina „Pat“ Hale (1909–1972) in einem liberal-konservativ geprägten, politisch interessierten Elternhaus auf.[1] Er erwarb seinen Bachelor-Grad 1956 an der Harvard University. An der Colorado State University studierte er Mathematik und Statistik. 1966 wurde er dort Master of Science, anschließend promovierte er zum Ph. D. An der Colorado State University unterrichtete er in den 1970er Jahren Statistik. Sieben Jahre arbeitete er als Systemanalytiker für die Douglas Aircraft Company. Später ging er als Wissenschaftler zum Los Alamos National Laboratory. Derzeit lebt er in North Royalton, Ohio.[2]

Politisches Spektrum nach Bryson und McDill (1968)

1968 veröffentlichte Bryson mit William R. McDill ein zweidimensionales Modell zum politischen Spektrum. Die falsche Wahlprognose der Zeitschrift The Literary Digest zur Präsidentschaftswahl in den Vereinigten Staaten 1936 führte er 1976 auf einen nicht repräsentativen Rücklauf von Fragebögen zurück.
